How about something like this?
(Excuse my bad photoshop skills)
Something like this but with a bigger belt, move the bottom edge up a bit, wear shorts under it.
It would kinda look like a male version of the same outfit.
I think shorts would ruin the cosplay a little bit, but it would make sure i wont look like a cringy cosplayer at least
