I’m planning my first monster hunter cosplay and I’d like to make an insect glaive to go with it since it’s my favorite weapon in the series. The issue I’m running into is the scaling of the kinsect... I didn’t realize just how big they were until I started planning for this.

Having one accurate to scale seems not only unwieldy around a convention but also just... oversized? I’m thinking of scaling it down to about the size of the bracer so I don’t have to forego the bug. Is it worth it to sacrifice the accuracy of scale for practicality and comfort?

Pic for reference. The length is almost as tall as the hunter holding it, meaning mine would be at least 4 feet long and mounted on my arm if size accurate.
