I'm not really an expert, but I've managed to make one (1) friend at AX last year. I talked about the anime on his t-shirt as a conversation starter and said we should get a beer or something later. We never went out drinking but we went to a few panels and stuff. I still talk to him through twatter and we'll probably meet up this year as well. So basically try talking about the nerd shit their wearing and then bait them with alcohol.

Don't try this on grill if you're prone to spilling spaghetti. You'll get arrested.
