What do you prefer when it comes to cosplay, accuracy to the source material or, making an outfit realistically?

I suppose I myself prefer realism, mostly stemming from seeing really well made Sailor Moon cosplay but with bright yellow wigs that really made them look not so nice.

Pic related, I see a lot of Panties with yellow wigs too.
