Sweet takes the romanticized Victorian/antiquated ideals and aesthetics that inspires lolita as a whole and adds influence from general kawaii shit and shoujo stuff; Rose of Versailles is often cited as one of the sources of inspiration of the young girls who wore it on the streets back in the day. Not to say that Sweet is anime cosplay but afaik the Japanese teenagers that started lolita in the first place came up with it to stay in touch with the cutesy, princessy imagery of cartoons in their childhoods.
