/cgl/ - Cosplay & EGL

Okay, just off the bat, I already KNOW this is a basic bitch cosplay, it's a closet cosplay, it's lazy as hell, etc. I am aware of all this. There is a point to it.

My bf's expressed his first bit of interest in a couple cosplay, because I bought him a new hat, in pic attached - we met whilst young and weebish, and he was wearing that hat, and it had gotten a bit worn and torn, and it means a fair bit to him/us. He suggested we could do these two.

I've wanted to couple cosplay for ages, but I don't want to spend $$$ and a shit ton of time if at the con he hates it, I'd rather do something cheap and cheerful so it's not a massive waste if it doesn't go down well. Bonus points if I get cute wellies out of it. Jake's outfit is based on what my bf normally likes to wear and feels good in. Thinking possibly yellow shoes for him, and for me the hoodie will be worn as dress i.e no sparkly hotpants.

Trouble is, I don't actually know Adventure Time very well, so whilst it's always going to be basic, I'd like to ask for some ideas that are...slightly less basic? I want to make plushies of their kids, and possibly her universal translator, but not sure what else. General opinions on the outfits would be helpful too. Thank you in advance!
