I repeat: This does NOT make someone an attention whore.
An attention whore is an obnoxious, self-centered twit that will do and say anything for attention good or bad. So unless you're exaggerating for effect, 'attention whore' is not an appropriate term to use for what you're describing as a very natural human need. So who cares?
