Sage for OT and replying to old replies, but I feel like you gulls have some bias operating here.

Shota/shotacon was coined as a *direct response* to lolicon, in a letters column of a magazine called Fanroad where someone asked "if guys into (young) girls are lolicon, what are women into young boys?" It was named after the main character of Tetsujin 28-go, Shotaro Kaneda - a non-pornographic character noted for his short-shorts (pic related).

Even english Wikipedia notes that not all shotacon is sexual in nature, though most of it is at the very least romantically charged. So essentially, loli and shota are the same levels of innocuous, given context. Cute young boy characters in anime are often referred to as "shotas" just the same as cute girls are referred to as "lolis" regardless of how innocent/non-sexual the source material is. It's used as a moe term. I wouldn't personally recommend using it for real people but I also don't think it's as mind blastingly offensive as some apparently do.

Also >>9408729 your response is really confusing, because you first say people "people don't take a female's predatory sexual urges seriously" but then say "i do not think there is anything inherently wrong with enjoying 2D porn like lolicon or shotacon" - if you think someone holding a shota/loli pillow is indicative of "predatory sexual urges" then that would definitely imply you think something is wrong with it. You're kind of wobbling over the line of equating fantasy with reality. I agree with you mostly otherwise, it's just sort of a cognitive dissonance you seem to have going on.
