Ok this is going to sound like a stupid question but I'm still learning the ins and outs of sewing.

Whats a good fabric choice for lining? Specifically for an Alice and Wonderland type dress (image related) or would it even need lining? I'm starting to get to that point where I want my costumes to feel more polished and I know linings a good step but I cant quiet tell if this dress would even need it and if so what fabric to go with.
