I initially believed lolita to be free of male influence, a representation of a female aesthetic made only for women.
Most people tell you no man is going to like you when you dress like this . . . . But in my experience all that is a complete lie.
Most men I’ve dated while in this hobby find it thrilling to say the least.
The either like the convoluted nature of the community, some have been exited by the whimsy of the clothing and obviously there are the ones that find it "sexy" (not in a ddlg way, more in a thigh high socks and platform heels look good on you kinda way)
and I am going to be honest I dont mind any of it. Fur Sure there are lolita choices that are hard for any normie to stomach no man or woman have been "ok" seeing me in a bonnet for the first time.
I think if anything, lolita is opposite to what our society thinks of as "the male gaze", or what I call the "old school male gaze". What men fetishize on women (and by extension women do onto themselves) is very different now days.
I think if anything the price of lolita is the biggest "feminist" statement about it. There is a lot of power in saying yea I spend 1000 euros to look like this just coz I want to look like a princess, and whether people like or find it as valuable as you it doesn't really matter, because you do.
