Honestly what you're describing reminds me of those disneybounding people, so maybe take inspiration from that? Or you can just go all out and make an outfit from artsmoo and wear it to a con. I did that and it was cringe but great.

I think it depends on the bag too. If you don't settle for a cheap bag and put the effort in to make it look nice, it shouldn't be too hard to coordinate.
