Hey, guys.
Looking at attending my first LARP in the next month or so. American, but the group has a good standard for costumes and immersion. I'm putting together a kit right now. Setting is fairly standard fantasy, and I'm going for a deserter/sellsword type. I have period appropriate boots, some black drawstring pants that would look fine layered with other garb, and a sword belt, but that's about it. I also have a cheap "Viking" helmet like pic related that my father-in-law gifted me years ago, but I'm not sure that I'd integrate it into my costume.
I'm looking for some guidance on what direction to go with the rest of my kit. I can't justify spending several hundred dollars right off the bat, but I am willing to spend an appropriate amount to ensure that I look presentable. I have a good amount of DIY experience and tools for basic metal shaping, leathercraft etc. I'll probably make some sort of hauberk, but I'm not quite sure where to go from there. Any advice from you more seasoned veterans would be appreciated.
