If you get upset at something, step away from the computer. Never post anywhere but your own private journal when you're agitated. You can tell the other party how wrong and stupid and wrong they are the next day, when you've calmed down and had a good night's rest. Maybe (likely) by that time you won't even care anymore.
Even if the other person is being obtusely Wrong On The Internet, getting upset at them in a place that will preserve your reply can end up being very embarrassing later on. Nobody really cares who gets the last word in some kerfluffle on BtB and they're much more likely to remember someone losing their shit 'in public' than someone who didn't even bother to engage.
