Most fashion models are known for their rigorous diet and exercise programs and their near inhuman proportions that allow them to be walking mannequins. A great model is considered great for many reasons, none of which include their ability to have clothes put on them.

A cosplayer is judged on their physical appearance, their natural traits, the accuracy of their costume, their use of fabrics and materials, their painting skill, their ability to apply makeup, how well they can style a wig, how well they can work with wood, worbla, wonderflex, and other materials that only exist for cosplay, and so many other things that all translate to how dedicated, skilled, and talented they are.

If your cosplay skills begin and end with ordering something of numbaonecheapcosplay dot com, or bidding on ebay for your shit... Then whats impressive about that? Sure, if you look good and the costume you bought isn't shit, then that's cool. You look like the character and some people will take your picture.. But in between that, they're going to be talking to the cosplayer who actually did all the work and made their shit by hand because that is inherently interesting and admirable, considering that there is no cosplay school or learning program that will teach you all the skills you need to know to be a really great cosplayer.

This has been my experience and this is what I tell normalfags: The people who are hooking up at cons are the ones you don't want to think about having sex.

I don't count the hot girls who show up with their boyfriend, or anything like that, because that's just hotel sex. That's not hooking up with a random stranger.

Nearly everyone else I've ever met who talks about banging random chicks at a con has been some horrendous, 30-40 year old neckbeard or some horrendous landwhale fag-hag sort of girl.. Like.. The type who buys a ren faire corset and wears it all the time, even though she's got a tit waterfall thing going on.

Last C2E2 I sat down with a couple of strangers to cool off and rest my feet, and they started talking about some of the hot girls in costume and how you need to be careful because some are underaged. I just sort of made small talk, not really weighing in on their topic of choice.. Then they started talking about all the times they almost hooked up with someone. Like, how this one time, he spent all weekend chatting up a girl, then some other guy talked to her and ditched him. The other guy just kind of talked about how he was led on a few times or how he got too drunk at a room party and missed his chance.

Both of these guys, despite being in their mid-thirties, fat, poorly shaven, covered in nerdy shit, like jackets covered in stupid buttons and shirts all distorted and stretched because they bought a size too small, just going ON AND ON about all of their not-conquests. Despite going to cons for years, I think only one of them had a story where he actually banged someone.

Those are the sort of people who think cons exist so they can hook up with all the hot cosplay chicks.

All the people who need shit like anime speed dating are exactly the sort of person who will always be unsuccessful at it.

Anyone who has a chance of meeting and hooking up with someone they have an interest in doesn't need some goofy fucking game with a pitifully low chance of success to talk up a guy or girl.

Cons are not a place for you to explore your sexuality. Stop thinking that you can just go around throwing yourself on people and groping and inappropriately touching in general. I'm a guy and I've had girls grab at my junk and that shit ain't cool.

Likewise, guys. I don't fucking care if you think you're a nice guy outcast in your normal life. A convention is not a place where you are instantly accepted just because you watch the animu too. If you're not an interesting enough person to attract anyone's romantic attention outside of a con, then don't expect there to be a line of desperate nerd girls waiting for you at a con.

Likewise, nerd speed-dating and general dating advice in general needs to be evicted from cons. It's pitiful and just because you get an energetic faggot up on stage with a mic telling you that you too can find your nerdy, whovian, trekky, who will read homestuck with you doesn't mean that piece of shit actually knows anything about dating.

And, just as a general complaint to everyone, young or old, a convention is a TERRIBLE place for you to start being irresponsible. Drinking more than you can handle, imbibing substances you wouldn't even take at home, and doing shit that you'd never dare to do otherwise is what gets cons kicked out of hotels and makes it harder and harder each year for them to afford to come back. Not to mention that you're dumb, adolescent bullshit is keeping ambulances circling the con center when they could be out saving someone else who isn't a fucking moron who doesn't know how to drink responsibly.
