On that note I'd like to ask where the line goes from a black classic coord to gothic? I think you're saying that the motifs in gothic are the most important part, right? So by that do you mean the crosses and skulls and nun collars? How do you categorize it if it doesn't have those things?
Someone told me that this isn't gothic, this is black sweet. Is that because of the bows? Can gothic have bows?

I love both and wear both.

Granted, I started off with sweet. have more knowledge in coordinating sweet, and have done more research with sweet.
So most of my "gothic" coords are more like a black sweet look with OPs like pic related.

Having been wearing sweet and having grown up leaning more towards the cutsie side of things, it'd be a real shock to people I know (and to myself) to go full on gothic. Since I 'see' myself as a sweet aesthetic, it's hard to think that I'd look good in full blown regal victorian gothic. I'd like to get there someday though and have one coord like that.

It doesn't help that I'm not very confident in my makeup abilities, but I can stand to keep it simple with sweet outfits and have it still be okay. I actually haven't seen /cgl/ touch on how to do proper gothic lolita makeup without looking mallgoth raccoon but also to match the intensity of your outfit.
