/cgl/ - Cosplay & EGL

I feel like a lot of people keep bringing up issues with how they'll be identified or perceived from crossplaying, and how much they DON'T want to be perceived incorrectly, which feels weird to me cause my whole reason for ever having done any crossplay has been to make myself identify with a character that I like, not because I want to reidentify myself as a person. I think it takes a certain level of comfort with yourself and being able to separate your personal lives and realize that just because you want to cosplay a character that inspires you doesn't mean that it should define you as a person outside of that cosplay.
