TBH I wouldn't expect photographers to know any of the characters apart and since people apparently don't know flags clearly it didn't help with distinguishing who you were. (If it helps I'd have recognised you without the flag).

Most of the characters have actual props, though, so I don't think that's a decent excuse. I mean, for Finland I have a moomin plush, a Floweregg plush and a riffle, and a spear for his baby outfit, and I normally take presents/a santa sack for his santa outfit (obviously I don't use them all in one go), for England I'll take a teacup or I've got a FMB plush, I hoard chicks for Prussia. Most of them have something that's going to be easier to pose with. Look at >>6897831 's picture again. The flag means that the photographer has to stand far back, it's not a dynamic pose at all (doesn't help that she's not holding it fantastically), and even that far back it's being cut off. Compare to >>6894214 this France. Obviously a better picture anyway, because photoshoot vs con photo, but it's easer to pose with and allows the photographer to get a closer shot without cutting off the flag.
