Blogposting time!

This weekend I worked the ballista again. The goal for the weekend was to get the supporting construction all done. After all, I had only six more days between then and Drachenfest to work on it. If I got the front legs done this weekend, I could do the trigger mechanism in one day and the rear leg in one day, leaving two days for sanding, staining and glueing.

Started the weekend by making the diagonal beams you see here. It's some ugly woodworking even for my very low standards, and they're not really connected in a load-bearing way at all, but I think they really add to the aesthetic.
