>say "Your cosplay looks amazing!" because I feel like if I say anything about the person, I'll come across as a guy trying to flirt and just being a general creep

>her friend also backs off a bit as if I meant it in a way that was more "can you get out of frame"
>didn't want to waste their time more by stumbling over myself to explain what I meant
>take picture and leave, thanking her
