I recall from some brief discussion a while back that the re-release doesn't use printed fabric for the inside facing part. At a glance, outwardly there doesn't seem to be any major differences, but maybe an anon who owns both dress releases can tell more.

The 2016 barrette is definitely different, though. It's seems to use less fabric as it is smaller/shorter and doesn't pay any mind towards using the whipped stripe portion of the print for the centre band.
