TristenCitrine once used satin ballet flats and sewed ribbons to them. The result was gorgeous and looked comfy to boot! Unfortunately I just cannot find a pic.

If anyone's interested, here you can even have them dyed to match:

Just remember: when you tie up your ribbon, tuck the knot under the ribbon. It will give you a beautiful, clean line. If you don't like the shoes that already come with a ribbon, there are tonnes of great tutorials on YouTube on how to sew and tie ribbons, and if you want that extra nudge of autencity, also think about sewing elastics.

I'm torn. On the one hand, I love the way those flats look. But on the other hand, I recently switched to Gaynor Midens and I am shocked at how ridiculously comfy they are. I haven't worn them for longer than class, but holy crap, where have these shoes been my entire life? I do not get the hate for Gaynors. Who knew there was a pointe shoe that didn't feel like the inside was coated with the roughest, scratchiest emory board ever made. It'd be nice to take shots in arabesque, but I'm still worried that after a couple of hours the sweet illusion of velvet coated comfort will gave way to the gnawing, scratchy, coarse pain of reality.
