Many brands offer L sizing. It doesn't mean being a landwhale is not an obstacle to looking good in lolita.

That's part of the fashion, it's not a cheap hobby. You should be ready to spend at least $100 and up to few hundreds $ on a second-hand brand dresses.
Doesn't mean everything is expensive. You can easily spend $1k on a coord, but you can also go as low as $300 including shoes and accessories.
Over time your expenses will diminish, too, as many pieces can be versatile, leaving you with only having to buy new dresses and skirts to create a new coord. Taobao can be your friend, if you want to start low-budget.
