I like you, Anon. You're very collected and thorough. I can definitely appreciate the effort of bothering with me to write a post like that. Thank you.

I'm not someone who cosplays but I have friends that are dogmatically obsessed with it - their entire life consists of nothing but going from event to event, making cosplay and having small-time jobs to support this lifestyle. They seem to have very little to no aspiration in life for anything else and have invested absolutely all of their time into this "hobby". It's extremely depressing because so many of them are lovely, talented young women who could otherwise be doing great things with themselves. Now, don't get me wrong, it's great to have passion, but what does it even mean if that is the only thing that defines you? Where do these girls see themselves when they're 30? 40? Do they have any real plans on a commitment to a family or anything else that isn't cosplay? Each and every one of them is extremely vain and shallow people, who put on a facade of being humble but seem they would die if they didn't have the attention. It seems like this probably has painted a very negative scene for me and an outsider, but it only makes me worry in all honesty.

I'm sorry that you don't find any joy in your passion, as it's never fun to hear that sort of love simply fade. However, I think now is an absolutely wonderful time for you to somehow apply everything you've learned and experienced from this venue to other aspects of your life or possibly even branch out into absolutely new things to experience. If you want to leave the scene, perhaps sell off your assets? If not, hold onto them! They're keepsakes and fond memories to share for the future. As long as you can find something to be happy with and feel whole doing.

Not him, but it's clearly sarcasm. To play devil's advocate though, why does that matter? Albeit you'd be a bit an annoyance, there's always bothersome people at conventions - if it bothers you so much, you can just report them to security for sexual harassment. That aside, from Guy's point of view, who fucking cares if you get turned down? Not like she knows you or anything.
