Dressform owners -- I want to buy a dressform for sewing/patterning/display and have questions.
>How much did you spend on yours?
>Purchased locally or bought it online and had it shipped? Where did you buy it (or if you were gifted it, where did it come from)?
>Features to look for in a potential dressform to use for patterning/draping? What would make/break a purchase for you?
>How sturdy is it? (can it handle a few moves to different houses or getting knocked over accidentally? I have cats and they are rowdy)

The items that you're trying to refinish, what are they made out of? Knowing the material (porous/nonporous, intended to flex or stay rigid, etc) will help you choose a finish.

No suggestion here, but replied to say

Would it be possible to shape only the dark blue grip portion out of wood? It's not an entire prop, so you'd be able to keep the rest of the bow light with your EVA build, but the grip would be sturdy. You could extend the "legs" of the dark blue portion to slot into the lighter blue wings of the bow.
Alternately, PVC pipe that you heat and shape.

A little like other anon's answer -
>separate the top layer of wig fibers (ie clip them to get them out of the way)
>sew/glue in pieces of black craft foam or felt where you want the cracks to be
>unclip the top layer of wig fibers
>style the wig fibers and freeze their styling so they stay in "chunks" that float over the black-crack areas (like icebergs floating over the sea)
