I don't know anon, why do people participate in Lolita Challenges? Because it's fun?
Incentivizing people to participate in the fashion irl is exactly what we should be wanting to do.
Aside from that, trash people will buy trash items regardless of little fun doodads on the internet.
I would say time spent in the fashion does matter in regards to mentoring others. Gatekeeping lolitas-at-heart who've only known about the fashion for under a year and are itching to spread their "knowledge" to other beginners is important.
