That's alright, most posts here are about those types anyway. I actually did mean anime anyhow, since it's my wheelhouse. You're already off to a good start by opting for those over something like comics or games. Either way, the anime con can be divided into tons of subcategories (again, the parts not on their sites). These can be a party con, cosplay con, one where you wanna explore vendor hall a lot or see a certain guest, attend the rave, so on. The venue types play a big role in determining the kind of crowds who attend too.

Well, of course the good thing here is no prior experience means almost anything will seem cool. You'll definitely be in for a lot of unexpected weirdness, no matter what.

Thos was me misreading what you said about San Japan, only now noticing you meant the timeframe, instead of distance. In that case, there's a billion options here. And again, I could definitely recommend some, but best narrow it down some more. Most i can tell you is maybe don't start with something massive like ALA or Katsu
