Sure. Its my first giant robot cosplay, so I'd actually appreciate a second opinion on the overall plan.

First of all, the plan is to go big. I have 4 inch foam platforms that I will be walking around on as the feet, and as you might have noticed the head piece clearly isn't big enough to fit an actual head inside of like a helmet. The plan is to have the head of the gunbuster as a kind of giant ornament on top of my actual head, with my real head acting as the 'neck' of the gunbuster, seeing out through a veil of black fabric. Obviously the central eye of the head will have lights in it.

For the rest of the costume, I will be wearing a dark grey set of summerweight (to reduce overheating) coveralls to act as the undersuit. I can then wear the individual armor pieces over the top of that. I plan to do something to add the 'lines' to the undersuit, but that might just be as simple as using a fabric pen or something, I doubt I will be able to really achieve the segmented look.

For the arms and legs I plan on using sintra, heating it so that I can bend it into a tube shape and then capping the ends with a layer of foam and sanding the edges to make for a rounded edged. The upper arms and upper legs will likely just velcro directly to the undersuit. The forearms I actually plan on joining to the gloves to effectively turn the entire forearm piece into a kind of giant gauntlet, that way my hand 'anchors' the piece and keeps it from sliding around or getting misaligned, with a layer of soft foam around the inside of the elbow end to keep it from flapping around.

So, I've got a Gunbuster costume mostly planned out, but there is one sticking point for it that is keeping me from pulling the trigger on starting it built it.

Specifically, I have no fucking idea how I am supposed to get through doors with those massive things on my shoulders. Especially if everything goes according to plan and in-costume I'm about 7-8 ft tall, but even without platforms and such those shoulders are ridiculous.

I imagine that other big costumes or things with wings have a similar problem. What can I do to make getting through doors not require breaking down my costume or having a team of people follow me around as a pit crew?
