I'm working on Alette's (pic related) skirt for an upcoming con. I'm new to sewing, so I wanted opinions on whether I can just add trim or something to the bottom (the green part) or if I should go ahead and make two skirts?

The con is going to be extremely hot so I'd rather not layer if I can help it, but not at the price of looking tacky.
