The entire point of lolita is to have a cute creepy doll aesthetic. Way back when it first started that is. Emphasis on cute and creepy was equal. If you can't handle any bows and a limited amount of lace just look into western goth. There's plenty of poofy above the knee skirts there too.

Thing I keep noticing in these type threads is that there is usually something unexpected or less conventionally 'matchy matchy' in the outfit. I think if some of these were documented as a 'coord help' type post for instance, people would probably suggest that they change something, or go for something more obviously fitting.

I generally think it's the outfits that have a little something out of the norm but remain interesting and cohesive over all that are the ones that seem to really stick in people's minds.

There are some exceptions of course, I think pic related is understated (in lolita terms) perfection.
