Agreeing with the other oldfags, early cons were a magical place.

>Rare, perhaps once a year
>Feels like a hike to the other end of the earth
>Could buy tickets on the door
>Tiny dealers room, but anime merchandise was hard as fuck to find anyway
>Fansubs in video rooms
>People cosplaying because they love the character, not for attention
>Cheesy as shit cosplay but still great
>Wonderful atmosphere, so easy to make friends
>Cons small and intimate

Although it's nice the hobby has become more popular, modern cons are just a shadow of their former selves. They've just become soulless and the love has gone from the hobby, replaced by bought likes and attention whoring. It's sad really.
