The best thing to do is beforehand work out a couple of poses for your character in a mirror, and then try your best to memorize them so that when someone stops you for a photo you can snap into pose quickly.

Failing that, though- I find a really easy variation on The Thighs which works quite well for girly characters (and also if, like myself, you've got a curvier figure), is to put all of your weight on one foot and then to draw your knees in together, with the toes of your foot that your weight isn't on pointed outwards, and then lean slightly in the same direction.
