I buy at least two of every main game (one of the first two released, and then the third one whenever that comes out), and they did add a good bit. Aside from the Pokémon walking with you, the plot was expanded, and the post game was new, too. I think they do tend to listen to complaints when it comes to the remakes. Of course they're never perfect for everyone, but they're generally pretty well received.

Gen III wasn't my first, that was Red in maybe 2000, 2001, but it come out when I was in third/fourth grade, so it's the one I remember best, along with the complaints for it. When it comes to the first two games, everyone seems to say Gen I is, objectively speaking, the worst, and Gen II is just "eh." I don't really hear any bad for it, but there's also never any serious praise. I don't know why Gen III is the one they decided to pick on the most for all the "shit game, shit plot, shit soundtrack, shit mechanics, Hoennbabbies" nonsense. The most legitimate complaint is the absolutely balls to the wall crazy amount of legends they added that gen. The Regis were literally the most useless pieces of shit.

I really, really hope they do what >>7543178 said and add more water based activities so you're not just fucking around in the ocean for hours on end. I can't handle running away from Wingulls every time I move again.
