Hey lads. Newbie looking for a quick spoonfeed here.

New to cosplay, but but this year I'd like to take it a bit more seriously and attend a handful of meets and cons. Up 'til now I've only been to MCM a few times. Main goal other than putting together some neat outfits is to hopefully make some friends through it, since I'm sorley lacking ones who aren't normies at the moment.

Are there any particularly good cons you'd rec, and is there a good way for me to find out about meets and stuff? For refrence I'm down in the Porsmouth/Southampton area.
