>tfw someone says they want their SO to wear something "more grown up than boystyle"

Fucker it is not literal children's clothes. The word just means male version of whatever is being discussed (usually, lolita). That is it. Lolitas should know better than to assume a Japanese term for something is meant to be taken literally in English. They should also know better than to assume that "cute, sweet" substyles represent the whole spectrum. Not every "boy's style" in pic related is cutesy (though the ouji one is pretty damn cute).

Don't get me started on people who say ouji doesn't have substyles. It's the same fucking clothes, made by the same fucking brands, and mirrors lolita. The only reason substyles for ouji aren't more commonly discussed is because most people treat ouji as a substyle of lolita instead of a companion style.

There are GLB/Kera spreads that differentiate between sweet, gothic, and classic ouji, and Japanese oujis use the word to refer not just to sweet cutesy stuff but for head-to-toe Boz.

>tfw someone calls one classic coord "kodona" and another one "aristocrat" because one has shorts and the other has pants
>tfw someone wears a bunch of bows and OTT gaudy trim but it's black so they call it gothic ouji
>tfw someone wears pastel fairy kei and says they just invented sweet ouji

It's not that hard, guys...
