While we post about what makes our favorite photos, mine is always having an appropriate location for the character. Most photogs can get passable hallway shots but it takes actual dedication to go somewhere appropriate for the characters and do a shoot there. Bonus points for characters actually interacting with things in the environment and not just doing hallway poses in a different location.

They didn't spend enough time setting up this shot. You can see the trunk meeting the roots of the tree behind her so you can tell the ground is only a foot under her. Takes all the suspense out of the shot. Here's an actually good picture of Lara Croft doing something cool.
