/cgl/ - Cosplay & EGL

I got this shirt since it's basically what I need, only I want it to have 1/4 sleeves (just above my elbow).

At first I was thinking of shortening the sleeve, but then the cuff won't be able to close over my upper arm. I could try to extend it, but the extended bit would lack the nice ruffle and the placket would gap open.
Though I could take out the buttons and replace them with button holes then connect the two with decorative ribbon and leave it open...though that seems a little strange.

On the other hand I could attempt to reconstruct the cuff on the upper arm, but I've only sewn sleeves to shoulder seams and done simple cuffs. I've never done anything this advanced, nor have I worked with this style of pleat before.

So does anyone know of any good tutorials or have some advice for me? I'm aware it might just be better to leave the sleeves as they are, unfortunately.
