I was a fan and cosplayer of Hetalia before the anime dropped and the meetups then at the con were small and really comfy
then the anime dropped and the fanbase exploded but it was still fun because it was a mix of the old small group and a ton of new fans
sometime after that was when the fandom went full toxic and I realized it was time to bail.
looking back, I can't tell if the fandom really went to shit or if I just grew out of it.
