advice for Madotsuki cosplay?

I don't know if I should make the shirt a regular longsleeve or a sweater/sweatshirt

here's an example of the latter (on the right, the pinkish sweater one if you don't know)

how would I go about putting the pattern on there and making it actually look good? i was thinking about just making a shirt off of zazzle but i feel like that would look kinda eh
