I mean, I own a fire extinguisher. It just seems better to have a firearm and not need it than to need a firearm and not have it. I say this as someone who's served in the military and has done "fighting sports," to use your term. Most cases you can avoid confrontations with common sense, but there's always that one in a thousand chance that shit just wont work out and you'll find yourself in a bad situation. To make it worse a frilly poofy dress and Mary Janes or heels are absolutely horribly to try and run in, making you an easy target. And the expensive clothing makes you far more likely to be targeted, since to be fair no one would expect a lolita to be carrying. So I'd much rather have a firearm with me since it's maybe a pound of extra weight to carry. The odds are strongly in my favor that I wont need to use it and wont even be near any situation where I need to use it, but if I absolutely have to defend myself, against someone who more than likely has a significant size advantage, I will have the means to do so. And statistically speaking a gun is the best means of defense. It's the only thing you can carry that doesn't have as high of a risk of failure as OC spray and tasers, or require physical strength like a sap or Asp like others have mentioned in this thread. And it also doesn't require you to be up close like a knife would because honestly you're probably already screwed if you're in a knife fight.

And for the people crying "what about the safety of the attacker," the attacker forfeited his right to safety when he decided to attack innocent people and specifically target people who look like they'd be unable to defend themselves.

If you want masculine casual clothing that could be passed off as masculine, I would look at the video game series STALKER. Most of the character designs in that are casual, and I wear a few pieces from my cosplay from the series as everyday wear.
