The whole "cosplay is for everyone" mentality is killing my community. Originally this phrase meant that having fun while cosplaying is the most important thing when cosplaying, to which I wholeheartedly agree. However nowadays it turned into some safe space bullshit about how all cosplays are equal, no matter their (lack of) quality. Don't have the right body type? Not a problem, because everyone is equally beautiful! Worst of all, any form of criticism is heavily frowned upon and taken personally, even when it's coming from a judge during competitions. So basically if you aren't going to hand out (false) compliments to everyone you're scum evil scum.

Speaking of competitions, a growing number of people are now getting rather vocal on how competitions should be banned as they promote "toxic behaviour". Apparently people looking to get some recognition for their hard work, passion and talent is now considered toxic? Yeah, how dare these people with actual talent get on a stage and win prices while your shitty inaccurate Ali Express cosplay isn't getting any attention on the con floor. Shame on them for taking the time to develop some actual skills! SHAME!

No but really, thanks /cgl/ for allowing to stay sane by providing me with a place to be honest. Without you I probably would had lost it a long time ago.
