cgl and the threads helped kill larme. there was a ridiculous amount of policing what "counted" as larme or not, taking the style way too seriously, hosting "larme meetups", trying to make a lifestyle aspect. basically just copying the lolita fashion blueprint and a tiny bit of the gyaru fashion structure and trying to make larme fit into that.

there also was a lot of superiority in early larme threads. a lot of "we're so much better than the stupid lolitas, this is how grown women dress, we aren't babies playing dressup or ddlg weirdos".

larme had a big boom in the west because for a short amount of time western brands like h&m and forever 21 made pieces that could easily fit into larme because trends overlapped for once. dusty pink, lace and feminine elements, overlay skirts were everywhere for two seconds.

then larme-esque pieces got harder to find at forever 21 and the magazine drifted away from the cookie cutter black/pink trend that cgl decided was law. thats when the threads died.

larme is just a distant relative of gyaru that was birthed from the amo style/soft sister 2012 trend. it was never meant to be a concrete, never changing style.

Is there any connection beteen the amo-kei/soft sister style that was popular in 2012/2013 and Larme? Was it a transitional style to Larme? I know the early issues of the magazine featured Amo, and brands like Katie which are still Larme staples.

I just find a lot of these designs a lot more unique and appealing than current Larme.
