I went to an @home cafe a few months back, they actually had a plus size girl (by Japanese standards) and a few average to not so attractive girls mixed in, but they all seemed pretty pleasant and any flaws seemed to cancel out with other quirks, so they were all pretty popular... granted I decided to try the level that wasn't Japanese only, so the fact that they were comfortable enough to deal with foreigners probably played a huge role.

Maid cafes at conventions truly scare me.
