some folk propose male aristo discussion migrate to the femme aristo thread to make a combined aristo general. what do you think?

http://strawpoll.me/6136158

my opinion is that i like how /ouG/ has been, since boystyle lolita (aka ouji) and boystyle aristocrat (aka male aristo) have similar issues as far as shopping, styling, accessorizing, and sizing, especially with the higher percentage of male boystylers in this gen. but what does the community think?

I'd say that ouji is separate to lolita. The way it works in my hea is that ouji is to male aristocrat what lolita is to femme!aristocrat. They're different but related styles which have some amount of overlap. Because of the overlap, some stuff can be applied at times to their sibling style. Buttcape's FAQ in this describes it well.

"kodona" is a misnomer for "ouji," aka "prince style." the western lolita community adopted it after a misunderstood interview with a musician, in which he used a portmanteau of "child" and "adult" (kodomo + otona) to describe his personal style. in another thread an anon linked to an interview with i think a fairy kei designer who also used "kodona" to describe herself. it is not an actual fashion.

basically, no Japanese brand or fashionista has ever used "kodona" to describe ouji. it has been referred to as "boy style" and i even saw a scan of Kera or GLB that called it "boy lolita," but it is typically just called "ouji" in Japanese alt fashion mags and coord sharing sites.

chart related shows the relationship between lolita, ouji, and aristocrat.

Why don't they just try aristocrat? It covers enough, can be modest and has frills.

though there can be in-between styles, as in lolita versus aristo

read upward to find the discussion of "kodona." it is a weeb term used in the West, and not actually used by anyone on Japan except one singer to describe his personal style.

ouji or boystyle (terms are interchangeable) is the "masculine" counterpart to lolita.

buttcape is working on a good guide. google "buttcape ouji overview" as 4chan thinks me posting the link is spam.

are you close to any conventions at least that you could boystyle it up for?
