This could look really gorgeous as a skirt. I think the dowdy bodice is what kills it as a dress. A little black to balance out the print is good, but I'd like to see an outfit playing up the pearly palette. You needn't try to hide or downplay the sheen in the fabric, either; by repeating the texture with other pieces, you can totally own it.

Totally possible! The Rule of Three is always helpful. If you repeat the new color in three places (handbag, headdress, and blouse, for example), you tie it into the outfit and no one can say it looks tacked-on or out of place. Black actually pairs really well with pink, in my opinion.
