So you dont NEED the axe. It is a nice touch but if its beyond your abilities skip it. Better to have no axe than a really shitty one. Wear contacts. Sure you can take your glasses off for pictures, but you will need to put them somewhere, which sucks if you have no handler, and it may mess up your makeup taking them on and off a lot. Buy a wig. I prefer Arda, they are larger and fit gaijin heads, and have pretty good customer service. Makeup- for that kind of costume, ben nye should be the best. Attached pic is a tut from Gropey, who is a professional clown. Not the exact type of makeup you will use, but the other tips are very useful. You can try PAX for your arms, but I dont recommend it because its very difficult to work with.

Also, get a barrier spray to prime your skin with before application. Follow my guide to using barrier and sealant spray (pic related)

I personally got my sealant from Malabar, which I would suggest going to if you're in the Toronto area.

Also note that you should either pick the powder or the spray, but not both together. They actually counteract each other (I made this mistake once, causes weird buildup) Gropey suggests using the spray over the powder.

I'd also suggest doing a trial run before the convention day. Facepaint and bodypaint application takes some practice, personally the first time I tried it it was embarassingly awful

Don't mix the powder with the barrier/sealer spray. One or the other.

The Ben Nye complete guide to makeup says this themselves. The powder will absorb the spray, which will clot, and effectively neutralize both barriers.

Too much of a good thing I suppose. I prefer just the barrier/sealant combo spray myself.
