>Was going to cosplay from sports series with friends at next con
>Friends decide to do a Gundam group instead, like they did at the previous convention they went to (but I could not attend)
>My most beloved Gundam bro hasn't been claimed, I'd love to cosplay him
>Decide to just buy the costume, wanted to make it myself but simply don't have the time
>Order it, it's on it's way, things are good, stress is low
>Oh, j/k, now they're cosplaying the sports series again lol

It's not a huge deal, but it's pretty frustrating. If they hadn't decided to switch last minute I wouldn't have bought the costume, I would've made it myself for a different con.

That's kinda cute of you grandparents! But the rest, ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh, yeah, I feel you.

I went to Japan with my mom a few years ago because she was going to join this garden tour group in Kyoto after seeing Tokyo and Nagano and I was interested in going back to Japan anyway for vacation. Don't get me wrong, for the most part everything was great, but you know, she's my mom, so of course it's not going to be all roses.
>"Jacuzzi, look at what she's WEARING oh my god." She comments in a normal-volume voice.
>"Jacuzzi, that guy is totally gay!!" She remarks about the man sitting in front of us on the subway
>"MOTHER, PLEASE!! Don't make comments about people when they can HEAR you!"
>"But I'm speaking English, they can't understand."
>MOTHER NO, STOP PLEASE

>"Jacuzzi, what does that sign say?"
>The sign is in all kanji. My Japanese is maaaaybe at a kindergarden level.
>"Um… something…something… mountain… street. Sorry, there's too much kanji. It's just the name of this street though."
>"Why can't you read it? I thought you knew Japanese."
>Repeat many times over throughout the trip.
Later:
>"Jacuzzi, what does that sign say?"
>"Let's see… Oh! 'Castle straight ahead. 800 meters.'"
>"It doesn't say that! Don't make things up!"
So I'm supposed be able to read all Japanese, but when I can actually read something, I'm reading it wrong.

My family doesn't do this anymore, thank goodness.
>"Why do you like Japan so much? Don't you know they treat women like dirt?"
>"Well, the sexual inequality is a prob—"
>"Don't support a country like that!"
>"It's not entirely sexist, but there are definitely things that—"
>"The Japanese are terrible! They have done TERRIBLE things! Haven't you heard of the Rape of Nanking?"
Yes. It's disgustingly horrible, and no one should give them a pass on that, but pretty much EVERY country has war atrocities???
