I'm not going to act like I have 100% together but a lot of con friends are well into their twenties and thirties and cannot act like adults. They talk about being broke and not affording rent but go out to eat all the time and buy a bunch of cosplay stuff. Then you go over to their place and it's like an 18-year-old lives there with shit strewn everywhere.

Is it too much to ask for people into this shit not to be so goddamn immature?

Anyone else sometimes think/say really bitchy things and then feel bad after?
Today I saw a girl on my dash who's,let's be honest,not good at coordinating. She was wearing a dress I also have. And I just thought "I wear this better and I look better in it". Then realized how bitchy and vain I sounded. I also catch myself being kinda more salty than I was a few years ago sometimes.

This is hell. I haven't been this distracted by my desire to play a game in a while. If I could afford it, I'd honestly just call out sick tomorrow to just play all day, but I have the whole weekend off. I feel like a kid again being this excited for something.

I accidentally made two potential cosplay partners lose interest in the hobby because of my /cgl/ nitpickiness.

Friend #1 is a guy, and there are plenty of characters that he could pull off nicely, but when I suggested them to him he’d say “oh, I don’t have the right hair length for him,” or “I’ll have to dye my hair.” I told him on three different occasions that he should get a wig because wigs look better than real hair, look more accurate for animated characters, and will save him the hassle of dyeing his. He kept talking about wanting to be the best of said characters and so I told him that without a wig he wouldn’t be. When it came to buying fabric for his first costume he wanted to use cheap crushed velvet in the wrong shade for something that should have been made from wool, and thankfully I was able to stop him. After a while he told me “this hobby is too stuck-up for me” and wanted out.

Friend #2 is an overweight girl. She came up with a list of super skinny characters (some in revealing outfits) that she wanted to cosplay. Deep down I was praying she’d change her mind for her sake but pretended to support her decisions nonetheless. She asked me for some other suggestions and I suggested some chubby characters. “But anon, those characters are fat! You think I’m fat?” Now she won’t even talk to me.
