crimp covers have been a staple for a while. you can close them with the rounded outer part of your crimping pliers.

i would also recommend the metal wire guards shown in pic related as well. saves your wire from jump ring friction.

both wire guards and crimp bead covers are super cheap, and just take some practice to get used to.
