Are you the person from general? Either way, no it's weird to just let it bunch up behind you when sitting in a chair. When you sit down in a chair you're gonna want to push the dress down a bit towards the back of your thighs as you're sitting down. On the ground/floor, it's fine to have it flare out behind you.

Lolita is literally the fat girl fashion in japan.
There’s a reason why it always looks kind of frumpy in a cute way.

Requesting a wardrobe that is anons' interpretations of the "essence" of old school lolita. This can include famous old school pieces (i.e. Baby's Elizabeth OP, Meta's Velveteen Triple Frill OP) or other pieces that you feel are definitive of the style, like OPs or blouses with detachable sleeves, solid JSKs with torchon lace, etc.

Would really like to see different anons' interpretations of this.

I’m at that threshold between skinnyfat and obese hamchan and have noticed a lot of newer releases are super big on my bust and waist (90/74 cm). Fatties need to fucking chill with that. Actually better yet, they keep bitching and stay the fuck away from lolita

With iconic velveteen series.

There's a red pair on Violet Blue right now but I'm only really looking for white (I have way too many pairs of black platforms already):

>Meta > BTSSB
FINALLY, SOMEONE WHO AGREES WITH ME!
I love how Meta aren't afraid to experiment with bold colours and unconventional designs. I love how they straddle so many different lolita styles, while still staying true to their roots. All the meta clothes I've bought have been fantastic quality and sturdy enough for everydaywear, whereas I have a lot of AATP that I'd only wear to a meetup bc it feels so delicate. Yeah, they release some spectacularly ita things at times, but I can forgive them because they're hilarious and I love their non-ita pieces so much. Meta keeps surprising me, the things I buy from them are always nicer than I expect. Sure, their quirkiness can make their clothes harder to coordinate, but I love a challenge.

Pic is from 2004 and looks like something they'd release today, though they would coord it differently.

It might be just me, but I refuse the term neo-lolita to be a thing. It just... doesn't look lolita to me.
Maybe as a larme or even nymphet thing, I understand.

With soft lolita... well okay. Maybe we were wrong all this time and called this soft lolita thing "otome kei". But I thought otome kei also included the use of shorts? I see rarely any western attempt at otome kei with shorts. So maybe yeah, we should call it "soft lolita". This already happened with the term kodona and boystyle. But... the thought of girls "maturing out of lolita" to wear something that doesn't resemble it that much really scares me though. I wish every lolita was like momoko and wanted to die in a btssb dress, but reality is harsh.

How was your first encounter with lolita like?
No matter how old or young, no matter if it dates way back to the early 2000's or 90's or if you just discovered it last week. Here's mine:

>Be me, 12
>In the middle of the naruto craze
>I bought a magazine that had naruto in the cover. My first anime mag
>It turns out that naruto was only in the cover and some pages, the rest of the magazine had stuff about japanese culture
>One article about lolita
>It didn't had much information, but it had pictures of that era lolita
>I immediatly fall in love with it
>Bought another mag
>It also had another lolita article for some reason
>It talked about guro lolita (you know how it was back then)
>To this day I still want to do a guro lolita coordinate
Didn't attempt to dress lolita until I was 17 due to missinformation. My first coord was kind of ita too.

The blue OP from this picture! Also got the bonnet, bow, and cape from that series with it.

I've had a soft spot for this picture since I saw it in the old English editions of the GLB, so owning the OP is way cool.

Somewhat relevant question. I have shoulder length hair, and I'm still growing it out. I want a hime cut, but most pics of hime cuts I see have very long hair. Do you guys think it would look okay to cut the front part to make a hime cut yet? Or should I wait a bit for my hair to get longer?

I think the shorter front would frame my face much better and should look fine with the current length, but I'd like other opinions.

Pic unrelated.

It's not possible for lots of them to sit flat unless you break them. These kind of bows aren't popular at all anymore and are very much oldschool, lol. Stop samefagging, you don't know what you're talking about.

Pretty sure it comes in burgundy as well although I can't find a picture. The JSK at least comes in burgundy so probably? Wish Meta was better documented..
