There's no homemade thread so I figure I'll ask here.

Anyone has advice on sewing a border print so that it sits more like a flared skirt? Without resorting to tiered cuts or slicing up the print, I mean.

I just saw this cute fabric on Tomato that would be perfect for summer berries season but I can't justify sewing yet another cupcake skirt that doesn't look right outside of lolita.
